A new path forward
By Erik Paulsen
When it comes to budgeting, spending, taxes, deficits, debt and the size of government there is a clear difference between where President Obama is taking our country and the direction we need to go if we are to ensure America has a strong future.
The President's budget increases wasteful Washington spending, increases the national debt, and raises taxes by $2 trillion. In short, it puts the United States on the same trajectory as Greece. I believe we must do better.
This week House Republicans approved a budget, led by Budget Chairman Paul Ryan, that puts America back on a path to success. While the Senate has not even produced a budget for more than 3 years, our budget cuts spending, actually pays down the debt and shrinks the size of government, allowing the private sector to grow and create jobs. Here are some highlights:
* Stops President Obama's tax increases
* Cuts spending by $5 trillion
* Repeals Obamacare
* Reforms the drivers of our debt and reduces debt as a share of the economy
