Congressman Erik Paulsen today officially filed paperwork to run for re-election in Minnesota’s Third Congressional District. Paulsen, who was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008, is serving his first term, focusing his efforts on fiscal discipline, constituent outreach, veterans’ issues, small business and job creation. “When I ran two years ago, I said that Congress was broken and I wanted to help fix it,” Paulsen said. “While I’m proud of my accomplishments during my first term, there is much more work that remains. I will continue fighting against the runaway spending and skyrocketing debt that is threatening the future of our children and grandchildren, while pushing for pro-growth economic policies to create jobs and turn our economy around.” In his first term in the House, Paulsen has already passed multiple bills and amendments to increase transparency and accountability of taxpayer dollars, assist small business and aid veterans. He’s also gained recognition for his leadership in protecting Minnesota’s vital medical device industry, which is responsible for tens of thousands of jobs in the state. Additionally, he led the effort to terminate the controversial TARP bailout program and use remaining funds to pay down the national debt.
Paulsen also serves as a member of the House Deputy Whip Team, the only freshman member selected for the post. Finally, he was recently awarded for his communication efforts when his website received the Gold Mouse Award, given annually to the top websites in Congress. Paulsen and his wife Kelly have four daughters, Cassie, Briana, Tayler and Liesl, and reside in Eden Prairie. For more information, please visit www.paulsenforcongress.com
